Project update – December-January
A Happy New Year to all of our newsletter and online readers!
As we welcome 2019, our Project Team is focusing on building the collaborations and bringing together the science capability, innovation and technology that we contribute to sustainable urban communities and city living.
Just as our science and innovation has helped to shape our nation over the past 100 years, new ideas, initiatives and technologies are creating a more sustainable future for our cities and urban spaces.
In late November we announced the new CSIRO Urban Living Lab that will help transform Darwin into a best-practice example of tropical urban living, and to promote our cities’ expertise into Asia. CSIRO Ginninderra presents a similar opportunity to bring together multidisciplinary research that delivers urban sustainability, albeit on a different scale and in a suburban context.
We are working with a number of local agencies, research and industry collaborators and regularly engaging with community groups and the local community, to explore these possibilities.
We are exploring ideas, carrying out site and due-diligence studies, advancing our science offering and the preliminary planning and preparations relating to environment and heritage, roads and traffic, urban amenity, planning and design principles and the various approvals processes.
Stay tuned in 2019 for further news and updates on this initiative and we look forward to catching up with you again as the year unfolds.
